Porter Tatry Team-Building

Think you know your limits? Strap on the load and find out.

Did you know that in Slovakia’s High Tatras, people still carry food and supplies to mountain huts the old-fashioned way – on their backs?

This unique job, done by mountain porters, is one of the oldest mountain traditions. And the High Tatras are the last place in Europe where this work is still done by hand. These strong and skilled porters carry between 60 and 100 kg of goods up steep trails – often in challenging weather conditions.

This autumn, we’re launching Porter Tatry Team-Building – a special company hiking experience in the High Tatras. Your team will learn about this powerful tradition and even try carrying a real porter backpack (don’t worry – a lighter version!).

We’ll be guided by Pišta Backor, a legendary local mountain guide and one of the most experienced porters in the Tatras. He will share stories from his life in the mountains and give you a deep insight into what this demanding and meaningful work really involves.

It’s not the weight on your back – it’s the strength you find on the way up.

This team-building is about consciously stepping out of your comfort zone. Participants face both physical and mental challenges inspired by the daily lives of the porters. It’s a powerful experience that builds resilience, improves cooperation, and helps your team discover new limits – both personal and shared.
